Developing solutions to improve human health

PSI ophthalmic instrumentation takes advantage of the novel characteristics of semiconductor light sources and optical design to enable measurement techniques such as laser scanning microscopy, optical coherence tomography and adaptive optics to diagnose diseases of the cornea and retina. We invent new instrumentation combining multiple measurement modalities to provide clinicians with advanced tools for imaging human and small animal eyes with a high degree of spatial sensitivity, enabling early detection of glaucoma, macular degeneration and other eye diseases. Our R&D and product development focus captures opportunities in the rapidly growing multimodal adaptive optics imaging market leading to clinical translation through our academic and medical collaborators.

Pharmaceutical Processing

Developing solutions to monitor and improve pharmaceutical manufacturing

PSI develops on-line monitoring instrumentation supporting pharmaceutical process development and control. This work has included developing optical-based tunable diode laser absorption spectrometers for the monitoring of pharmaceutical processes including lyophilization, fluid bed drying, fluid bed spray coating, decontamination of barrier isolators and vial and headspace analyzers.
